Annual General Meeting 2024
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of CEUGB&I
Notice is hereby given that the One Hundred and Twenty Ninth Annual General Meeting of the Christian Endeavour Union of Great Britain and Ireland (Incorporated) will be held at the Olive Tree Community Centre (Penketh Methodist Church), Chapel Road, off Penketh Road, Warrington, WA5 2NB, on Tuesday 14th May 2024 at 2- 00pm.
Any members who wish to join the meeting on Zoom are requested to contact the Secretary by e-mail before May 7th so that arrangements can be made to provide the necessary link. To contact the Secretary about joining on Zoom, please use the e-mail address : rjlewis53@gmail.com
The meeting is called in order to Receive the Report of The Christian Endeavour Union of Great Britain & Ireland (Incorporated).

- Receive the Accounts of The Christian Endeavour Union of Great Britain & Ireland (Incorporated).
- Consider Personal Details and Election of Trustees of The Christian
- Endeavour Union of Great Britain & Ireland (Incorporated).
- Elect Officers of The Christian Endeavour Union of Great Britain & Ireland (Incorporated).
- Consider Recommendations from the Trustees.
Transact any other ordinary business.

Proxies
A member is entitled to appoint a proxy to attend the meeting and vote instead of her or him. A proxy need not be a member of the company. Proxy forms may be obtained from the Secretary, and should be returned no later than seven days before the meeting.

Light a Candle
Whether you are continuing to worship as congregations or not, we have the great privilege and freedom to be able to call upon God, wherever we are, individually and corporately, for healing in our nation. We would pray for all in leadership at this time, making decisions about the containment of the COVID-19 virus, for those working in health and social care, and especially for the most vulnerable, whether elderly or those with underlying health conditions.
There are already stories being told of wonderful acts of kindness across neighbourhoods. Alongside your prayers, take the opportunity to telephone or email someone who is isolated, buy some additional food for your local foodbank, or offer to deliver shopping for an elderly neighbour. We may not be able to touch physically, but we can make connections in so many other ways.
In the meantime, do please attend to all the government health advice that will be issued, and look out for resources from your specific church governing bodies. At least for those of us in the global North, we do seem to be in unusual times, and wisdom and flexibility about worship gatherings are a key part of our Christian discipleship during this period.

Archives and ArtefactsList Item 2
In recent months, the CEUGB&I has received some enquiries about CE archives and artefacts.
CEGB&I recommends that items relevant to local areas should be deposited with local museums or reference libraries. That has happened in Sunderland where the Sunderland & District CE Union President’s Bible (dating back to 1895), the President's chain of office and a fabric CE pennant have been lodged with Sunderland Museum. In Yorkshire, the Presidential chain of office of the Yorkshire CE Region - very impressive with a large enamelled white rose - and the President’s signed book about Christian Endeavour, are to be housed in the 'Experience Barnsley Museum' in Barnsley Town Hall.
Items which have relevance to CE in Britain as a whole can be accepted by CEGB&I and added to archives and artefacts already kept in store. Recently, CEGB&I has received a number of such items. Mr Whiting of Streatham Common in London has donated the badge of the London Convention of 1904. Miss J Cunningham of Worthing has contributed a number of items, including the Jubilee medal of 1931 and the badges of the London Jubilee Convention 1931, Brighton Convention 1932 and the Nottingham Convention 1964, together with the programme for the Centenary Thanksgiving Rally in Central Hall, Westminster, in 1981. Mike Ferguson and the Yorkshire Region have sent a copy of 50 Years of Christian Endeavour - a Jubilee record & forecast 1881-1931 by W Knight Chapman & M Jennie Street. Included with the book were 2 letters sent in 1906 from the President's Office of the United Society of Christian Endeavor in Boston, Massachusetts to the Yorkshire CE Federation and signed by Dr Francis Clark, the founder of Christian Endeavour.
