Valentine's Day cards

.The original Valentine’s Day cards were usually anonymous requests to ‘Be my Valentine.’ Today they are often an open declaration of affection to someone who has already been identified as the ‘Valentine.’ Indeed, they may be sent because of the expectation and the potential repercussions if a card is not received.
But the best Valentine card of all is contained in perhaps the greatest verse in the whole of the Bible, yet so many people have never seen it or read it.
This Valentine card is found in St John’s Gospel, chapter 3 and verse 16. It tells us:
Who the card is for - everyone! Because God so loves the world, that is
everyone in it, including you and me.
What God has sent us in order to show how much He loves us - not a card, not
even one of the billion sent by people each year, nor even a bunch
of red roses. Instead, He gave us the Greatest Gift in all the world,
His only begotten Son, who came as a baby in the manger at
Bethlehem but who gave His life on the cross at Calvary for us.
What He offers - a future with Him, eternal life
Valentine cards do not only state the feelings of the sender, they usually seek something in return - a response of love. So does God’s Valentine message. It asks us to respond to His love for us by believing in Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us.
If you haven’t seen God’s Valentine, here it is:
‘For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life’
(John 3.16 [NIV])
Remember, ‘when God loves, He loves everybody;
when God gives, He gives everything;
when God saves, He saves for every minute of time and eternity’
(D.L.Moody)
