Biblical resources
To help understand better the meaning to the biblical references is one of the key challenges faced by all involved in Christian teaching.
As Leaders within CE you will be faced with this challenge often. The following resources will help you tell the stories, teachings and parables of the Bible in ways that are engaging, enlightening and entertaining.
Made available here are a number of practical ways of teaching the lessons from the Bible.
The Four Standards of CE
The MOTTO for the Christian Endeavour Movement is – ‘For Christ and the Church’. This motto reflects the desire of the member to be committed to Christ, their life being surrendered to their Saviour and dedicated to His service. It also reflects the Movement’s commitment to supporting the visible Church.
The four STANDARDS were set out by the founder of the Movement to amplify the motto
Christmas in chocolate
Christmas in Chocolate is very light hearted. It is using examples of each of the kinds of chocolate/confectionery mentioned, producing each as it is mentioned and piling them up on the front table, and then distributing them amongst the children afterwards or sending them to an Open Door for Christmas centre.
The script has the names of the chocolate/confectionary in capitals. Besides the script, I produce a checklist, so I can make sure I have got everything, and a running order so they can be lined up correctly to make it easier for a child to help in handing them to me to keep the flow of the Christmas story moving.
The Grave Diggers Tale
John 20:1-18
"Of all the jobs in the entire world mine is one of those that no one seems to want. To be a grave digger, especially a grave digger here in Jerusalem, is not on the top of many people’s lists of career opportunities".
The Easter story from an unusual point of view.
Introduction to the Gospel of John
The Gospel of John is more than a historical account: it is a book about theological truth. In the Synoptic Gospels (the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke) the manhood of Jesus is emphasised more than His divinity. In the Gospel of John it is His divinity which is emphasised.
The Israelites leave Egypt
This is a drama/play for JCE. It play can be performed using very few props, and a varied number of children. The introduction can involve any number between 1 and 10 children.
