Junior Christian Endeavour (JCE)
It is in Junior Christian Endeavour that boys and girls start to train for service for Christ through full participation in the weekly meetings and in church.
The motto of Christian Endeavour is 'For Christ and the Church', and Junior CE is an organisation whose main objective is to bring boys and girls to know Jesus as their Saviour and to begin to train them to serve Him through the Church.
The basis of Junior CE is the weekly meeting. Whilst devotional, this does not mean that you cannot play games or go on outings, but that each week there will be part of the meeting during which the children will learn to:
- read the Bible aloud
- pray with and for others
- choose and sing hymns and choruses
- and listen to music
and sometimes give talks on Christian teaching suitable for Juniors.
Junior CE members are encouraged to follow Training Schemes which lead to the award of badges and certificate.
One example is the British National Award Scheme. Here Juniors work at a number of tasks ranging from the Bible and Christian Reading to Practical Christian Living, and receive credit for each one successfully completed.
Badges are awarded at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
