Scottish Report

Scottish Endeavourers met together for the Annual Convention on 24 April in Larkhall Baptist Church. It was a happy and encouraging day with a full church.

The theme chosen by the local CE Group was "Notes of Praise". This theme was joyfully presented with music and puppets by the Juniors in the afternoon Celebration.

At the AGM, we considered the position of CE in Scotland, following the year's work of our Promotion Officer.  After contacting churches and Christian Groups across the country, it has become evident that there seems to be more opportunity for CE in schools than in churches!

In today's anti-Christian climate, it is the schools who are seeking help with religious teaching.  This poses a serious challenge for CE - a challenge that needs to be prayerfully considered and acted upon. This generation of children / young people need to be taught  Who God is - Who Jesus is -  What the Bible is - What the Church is. Can we teach them?

Our Speaker (ex-President Rodney Stout) challenged us from Colossians 1 to put Jesus back in His rightful place in CE - rather than the Movement. Jesus Christ is Head of the Church, and in our work with young people we must follow Him and the leading of His Holy Spirit. We have failed to teach our young members how to win others for Christ - focussing too much on "how to lead a Meeting," etc.

Our new President, Rev Jim Miller (Livingstone), was inducted into Office.  Throughout the day, the Junior activities were led by Brian Lowrie (MAD Ministries).  Brian is to be the speaker at the Annual Junior CE Camp in Orkney 26 June - 1 July. This year the Camp will be organised by Cameron Stout and Marion Groat.

Prayer is requested for these challenges, and also for our members/workers who need the Lord's healing touch, including our Alumni Secretary.
