Who we are

Christian Endeavour is a Christ-centred, Church-based organisation, which caters for all age groups within the church from juniors through young adults to seniors but its main emphasis is on youth.

Christian Endeavour was founded by a young minister, Dr. Francis Clark, in his church, Williston Congregational, in 1881. He wanted an organisation, which would help young people who had just given their lives to Christ to grow in their faith and to be trained for His service.

Junior CE offers an action-packed programme for children in the 8-13 age group. They are encouraged and gradually trained to take part in and be responsible for their own weekly meeting. These can be very varied and tailored to the needs of the children.

YPCE caters for young people aged thirteen to twenty-one and the work here is an extension of junior work A programme of meetings is drawn up by the members themselves under the guidance of the Society Leader(s). Members are allocated responsibility within each meeting, taking turns to lead, read, pray, sing, give testimony or deliver an address, lead a discussion or Bible study, or whatever else may be included in the programme.

Young Adults' group is an extension of YPCE work and is for those up to the age of thirty-five.

Seniors (anyone over about 35) have a very important role as they continue their affiliation to Christian Endeavour through supporting it prayerfully and financially.

Groups within Seniors also meet on a regular basis, these are Alumni in Scotland and Personal Members in England and Ireland. More information about activities in local areas can be found on this site.
